Match, merge, and make the next cupcake

2048 Cupcakes turns the classic number puzzle into a little bakery. Begin with two cupcakes on a four-by-four board. Swipe in any direction, or use the arrow keys, to slide every cupcake as far as it can go. When two matching values meet, they become one cupcake worth twice as much.

A new 2 or 4 cupcake appears after each move that changes the board. A move that cannot shift or merge anything leaves the board alone. Every cupcake can merge only once in a move: sliding 2, 2, and 4 together makes 4 and 4, rather than 8.

Your score and the 2048 goal

Your score adds the value of every cupcake you create by merging. A 2 and a 2 make a 4 cupcake and earn four points. Your highest cupcake and your total score are different things. Reach a 2048 cupcake to win, then choose to keep playing and discover how far the same board can go.

The game ends when every square is filled and no matching neighbours can merge. Keep some room to move, build toward one corner, and try to keep larger cupcakes together. There is no timer, so you can take a moment before each swipe.

A small collection worth coming back to

Discover new cupcakes as you merge, collect achievement stars, and work toward the next milestone. Your board, best score, and achievements stay in this browser when storage is available. Come back on the same browser to carry on with your saved board.

How does Undo work?

Undo restores the board and score from immediately before your last successful move. It is a single step, so you cannot keep undoing through the whole game. A move that does nothing does not use or replace your undo. You can also press U while the board is focused.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Swipe across the board in the direction you want to move. The board stays still while you swipe; scroll the page from outside the board. Full screen gives you more room, and Back returns you to the page. The same game works with arrow keys on a desktop.

Can I hide the numbers?

Use the Values button to switch the tile numbers on or off. The cupcake collection shows which designs match each value. Keeping the numbers visible can make the next merge easier to spot.

Do I need an account, and will my progress save?

No account is needed. Progress saves on this browser when browser storage is available. Using another device or browser, clearing site data, or blocking storage can prevent that progress from returning. You can still play if saving is unavailable.
