How to play Nonograms
Reveal a pixel picture by following the numbers beside each row and above each column. Each number gives the length of a filled run, in order from left to right or top to bottom. For example, 2, 1 means a run of two filled squares, at least one empty square, then one filled square. Empty squares may also appear before and after those runs. A clue of 0 means the whole line is empty.
Fill, mark and erase
Choose Fill, X or Erase, then tap or drag inside the grid. One drag applies the same mark to every crossed square, even if you revisit it, and Undo removes the whole stroke. A cancelled touch gesture discards its preview. Scroll the page from outside the grid. Desktop right-click places an X.
Crosses are notes for squares you believe are empty; they are optional for victory. The picture is complete when the filled runs match all row and column clues. Extra filled squares prevent completion. Marks are not automatically corrected, and there is no mistake limit. A crossed-out clue means its current filled runs match; it is a useful local check, not a promise that all your other choices are right.
Original pictures in two sizes
Choose a compact 5 × 5 picture or a roomier 10 × 10 puzzle. The collection contains 24 original pictures per size, each independently checked to have one solution. Rotations and reflections provide different views of the same picture. They preserve the clues' logic and count as the same original picture in your collection. New picture prefers unfinished pictures when possible.
The small grids give you less to track, while the larger grids have more room for detail. These are size choices, rather than standardized human difficulty grades. A uniqueness check does not promise that every puzzle can be completed with only simple line overlap deductions.
Hints that explain their help
Hint marks one verified square and explains why. A line-overlap hint shows what every allowed arrangement of that line agrees on. When a full clue search is needed, the explanation labels the move a verified reveal. If your current marks cannot satisfy the clues together, Hint explains the contradiction without changing a square; use Undo or review your recent marks.
A hint counts as assistance as soon as you request it, including a contradiction message. Undo, Restart, reloading and opening another rotation cannot remove that picture's recorded assistance. You can still finish the picture and collect its completion star.
Keyboard, full screen and saved progress
Use arrows to move between squares; Home and End move across the current row. Space or Enter fills, X marks empty, and Delete or Backspace erases. U and R undo or redo, H requests a hint, and P pauses. Full screen keeps the clues and painting tools together. In a wide landscape screen, the whole grid fits beside a separate tool panel; that panel can scroll without painting. On a narrow phone, close the hint explanation when you want the full picture back. Back or Escape returns to the page.
Your picture, marks, up to 200 undoable strokes, active time and stars save in this browser when storage is available. Leaving the tab pauses the game; a saved unfinished picture waits for Resume. Restart clears the same picture while keeping its hint history. New picture replaces it. A visible message explains when saving is unavailable. Sound starts off, reduced motion is respected, and star celebrations stay below the picture.
Eight small achievements
Earn stars for your first filled square, one matched non-empty line, five matched non-empty lines, a completed picture, a 10 × 10 completion, a picture completed without ever requesting its hint, three different pictures and five different pictures. Replays, Undo/Redo, reloading, rotations and reflections do not create extra collection wins.
