How to play Memory Pairs
Turn over two different cards and look for matching pictures. A match stays open and cannot be selected again. A mismatch stays visible for about 700 milliseconds, then both cards return face down in the same places. Remember what you saw and match every pair to finish. There is no time-limit loss or mistake limit.
One move is one two-card attempt
The first card starts active time but does not add a move. Turning over a second different card completes one attempt and adds one move, whether or not it matches. Clicking the same face-up card twice does not make a pair or add a move. While a mismatch is being reviewed, a third card cannot be turned over.
Choose 12 cards for six pairs, 16 cards for eight pairs or 30 cards for all fifteen original illustrations. Every selected picture appears exactly twice. Card positions stay fixed during the game. The small pictures are original SVG artwork made for this site, with visible text labels on open cards; hidden cards contain no face picture or identifying label.
Simple controls and a real pause
Tap or click a card. With a keyboard, use arrows to choose a card, Home or End to move across its row, and Enter or Space to reveal it. P pauses. Pause hides every card face, stops active time and freezes any pending mismatch review. Resume restores the same turn. Leaving the tab also pauses, and a saved unfinished game waits for Resume when you return.
Full screen keeps the cabinet and controls together; Back or Escape returns to the page. On a small screen the 30-card layout uses five columns; wide screens use six. Every card stays reachable inside its own scrollable area if the available height is smaller. Scroll from the board's surrounding area. Sound starts off, reduced motion is respected, and celebrations stay below the cards.
Saved progress, practice and records
Your layout, matched pairs, first revealed card or pending mismatch, moves, active time, achievements and personal bests save in this browser when storage is available. A pending mismatch resumes with its remaining review time; old callbacks cannot hide cards in a new game. A visible warning explains when saving is unavailable.
Restart returns the same cards to their original face-down layout, keeps the same attempt and its first result, resets active time and marks it as practice. New game creates a fresh layout and attempt. No Undo, reveal-all or hint is offered, so the game stays about remembering the cards you have actually seen.
Personal bests are separate for each card count. Only an attempt's first completion without Restart qualifies. Best time and fewest moves are independent records and may come from different games. Practice clears still count once as completed games, but cannot earn fresh-game accuracy, perfect-match or record awards. Reopening a result, restarting or reloading cannot duplicate a win or improve the attempt's first result.
Eight small achievements
Earn stars for a first pair, four pairs in one game, a complete 12-card board, a complete 16-card board, all 30 cards, a fresh clear with at least 75% matching attempts, a fresh clear without any mismatch, and three different fresh clears. Match rate is matched pairs divided by completed two-card attempts. Looking at a card repeatedly or replaying the same attempt never adds fictitious pair progress.
