Peg Solitaire

One good jump. One less peg. A little closer.

A CLASSIC LITTLE CHALLENGE

Leave just one.

Jump one neighboring peg into an empty hole. Every jump removes a peg. Across or down — never diagonally.

Tap a peg, then a glowing hole. Use arrows and Enter on a keyboard. U undoes, R redoes, H shows a legal jump. A hint suggests a legal move, not a guaranteed winning route.

    Small moves. A satisfying finish.

Start with the English cross: 33 holes, with 32 pegs and an empty center. Select a peg, then an empty hole exactly two spaces away horizontally or vertically. The hole between them must contain a peg. Your peg lands in the empty hole and the peg in between is removed. Diagonal jumps and jumps over an empty hole are not allowed.

Finish with one peg anywhere to solve the puzzle. Finishing in the center earns an extra achievement. If several pegs remain and there are no legal jumps, that attempt has reached a dead end. You can still undo, try another route, or restart. Every valid jump removes exactly one peg, so the full classic board takes 31 jumps to finish.

    A smaller start can help.

Small Start and Longer Trail use the same English board and rules, starting with seven or thirteen pegs. Each starting puzzle is built by reversing legal jumps from a single center peg, so a winning route exists at the start. Your choices can still lead to a dead end. A hint highlights one legal jump; it does not solve ahead or promise a winning continuation.

Tap or click a peg, then a highlighted destination. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move between holes and Enter or Space to select. Escape clears a selection. U undoes and R redoes a jump; H shows a hint. Full screen makes room for the board; Back restores the page.

    Keep your progress.

Your current puzzle, undo history and eight achievements save in this browser when storage is available. No account or time limit is required. Hint use remains recorded after undo and restart, and repeating a completed attempt does not count the same win again. New Puzzle creates a fresh attempt; Restart returns to the same starting puzzle. If saving is blocked, you can still play, but keep the tab open to keep that puzzle.
