    How to play Block Fit

Give every piece a place on the 10×10 board. Choose one of your three pieces, then tap a square, drag it into position, or use the keyboard preview. Every part of the piece must fit on empty squares. Pieces keep their orientation: there is no rotation or gravity.

Clear space for the next hand

Fill an entire row or column to clear it. Rows and columns completed by the same piece clear together; a crossing square disappears once. Other blocks stay where you put them. Use all three pieces before the next three arrive. A shaded piece cannot fit anywhere right now, but clearing a line may make room for it. The run ends when none of your remaining pieces can fit.

    Points and bigger clears

Each square in a placed piece adds one point. Clearing one line adds 10 bonus points; two together add 30 and three add 60. This edition continues the same bonus pattern with 100, 150 and 210 points for four, five or six simultaneous lines. Rows and columns both count, so a row plus a column earns the two-line bonus.

A hand with a little surprise

The original set contains 19 fixed orientations: a single square, horizontal and vertical lines of two through five cells, 2×2 and 3×3 squares, and small and large corners. Draws are independent of the space on your board and may repeat. From 300 points, singles and two-cell lines have half the usual weight. From 600 points, the 3×3 square and five-cell corners have double the usual weight. A long run does not guarantee a helpful next hand.

Easy placement on a small screen

Tap a piece and then a board square, or drag and release where the preview fits. The preview stays inside the edge of the board; it never rotates your piece. A striped preview cannot be placed. The large arrow buttons adjust the preview one square at a time; Place commits it. Releasing a drag outside the board cancels it. While dragging with a touch pointer, the preview sits above your finger. Small-screen play opens the game view when you choose a piece or make a valid placement; Back to page returns to the page.

Keyboard players can focus the board, choose a piece with 1, 2 or 3, move the preview with arrows and place with Enter or Space. U or Ctrl+Z undoes; Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes. Escape cancels a drag, closes a panel or leaves the game view. P pauses, N asks for a fresh game and R asks to restart the same starting hand.

    Undo, Restart and honest progress

Undo restores recent board, score, hand and draw state; up to 200 placements can be revisited. Redo is available until a different placement is made. Repeating the same decisions after Undo gives the same future pieces. Restart repeats the original starting hand as practice. New game starts a fresh run.

Undo and Restart remain recorded after reload. Best score and earned milestones stay earned; replaying an ending does not count as another finished run. The three-run achievement needs the first endings of three different fresh, unassisted runs scoring at least 100 points.

Eight little reasons to keep fitting

Earn stars for placing a piece, clearing a line, clearing two lines together, making a row-and-column cross, reaching 300 and 600 points, clearing ten lines in one run, and finishing those three fresh runs. Celebrations stay out of the play area. Sound starts off and can be switched on; motion respects your browser preference.
